MacBook: Graphics card upgrade - does it work?
Only a mediocre graphics card is installed in the MacBook. You would need to upgrade them for demanding games and simulation applications. We will explain to you whether this is possible.
A MacBook graphics card cannot be upgraded
- The graphics card is permanently connected to the mainboard in the form of a chipset in all MacBooks and MacBook Pro. Retrofitting is therefore unfortunately not possible. Apple also does not offer the service.
- Even when purchasing directly from the Apple Store, no better graphics card can be selected.
- Apple only allows retrofitting for the RAM and hard drive.
- One solution: An external graphics card could be connected via the fast Thunderbold connection on the Mac.
