MacBook: Fan broken - what to do?
If the fan is broken, it means: quickly switch off the MacBook and get a new fan. If you don't trust yourself to carry out the repair yourself, you will have to take your MacBook for repair - you should not continue working with it beforehand.
- If you want to lend a hand yourself, as always when working on the open device, first remove both the power supply and the battery.
- Before you remove the fan or buy a new one, it is worthwhile to first thoroughly clean the MacBook fan.
- If cleaning has not improved the situation, the free Mactracker program will tell you which fan you need for your MacBook. It is best to start the program on another computer in order not to strain the broken MacBook any further. Otherwise, you should keep the runtime as short as possible and cool your MacBook externally if possible.
- If you would rather have the fan installed, you can first contact the Apple store near you.
