MacBook: Installing the drive - Instructions
- Turn off the MacBook and turn the device over. If you loosen all screws there, the cover can be easily removed.
- For safety reasons, you should disconnect the battery before removing and installing it. Above the battery you will see a wide connector that connects the battery and the mainboard. Carefully pry the connector up with a toothpick or plastic card. You should not use metallic objects.
- Two flat cables run across the drive. You will find another cable where the cables end. Use your fingernail or a plastic card to pry out all three connections.
- The airport and Bluetooth module is located above the drive. Depending on the model, you have to loosen a few screws and connectors here so that the module can be removed or at least raised.
- The drive is attached with a total of three screws. The screws are located at the top and bottom of the outer edge and in the middle of the right edge of the drive. You can now remove this and remove the drive.
- On the short side of the drive you will find a small connector and a bracket that is attached with two screws. Loosen both components and mount them on the new hard disk.
- You can now reassemble the individual components and screws in reverse order.
