MacBook: Write square numbers - so it'll work
You don't only need square numbers in mathematics. We explain how to write them on your MacBook.
Write square numbers on the MacBook
Unlike on Windows keyboards, the MacBook does not have a keyboard shortcut for square numbers. However, you can set a text replacement with which you can, for example, automatically convert "^ 2" to "²":
- To do this, open the system settings and click on "Language & Text".
- In the "Text" tab, you can add new replacements with the plus sign in the lower left corner.
- For example, enter "^ 2" in the "Replace" column and then copy the "²" into the "Through" column.
- When you are finished, "^ 2" will be replaced by "²".
- In "TextEdit" you must also activate this setting. Pages has its own replacement table, which you can find in the menu under "Automatic correction".
