MacBook: Shortcut for writing emails
To improve your workflow, you can create a shortcut to write email on your Mac. We'll show you how.
Create service for email writing
In order to open the "New Email" window really easily and quickly from every application, you have to create a so-called "Service". This is quite easy with the supplied "Automator" app.
- Open the "Automator" app and select "New document" if the app asks which file it should open.
- In the next window, select "Service" or "Service" in German.
- First click on the dropdown menu under "Service receives" and select the item "No input".
- Now search for the "New E-Mail" element in the search bar and then double-click on it. The program element now appears in the right part of the window. You can now set a few defaults, such as which email account should be used for sending or whether text should be inserted automatically. If not, you can leave all fields blank.
- Now click on "File" -> "Save" in the menu bar and give the service a name. For example "create mail". You have successfully created the service. Now you only have to assign him a shortcut.
Create Shorcut to write email
- Open the system settings and click on the "Keyboard" item.
- Select the "Shortcuts" tab and select the "Services" item in the left column. In the column on the right you should now find your created service at the bottom.
- Next to these, click twice on the font "without" to assign a shortcut to the service.
- You can then open the "New Email" window from any program.
