MacBook and Co. insure: There are options
Apple devices are expensive and often subject to a lot of external stress. That's why you can insure your MacBook. We show you how this works in this guide.
Apple's own solution: Apple Care Protection Plan
- Like every other retailer, Apple has to guarantee the functionality of the product for two years. With the purchase of a Care Protection Plan, you have a few additional options such as the bring-in service.
- Apple offers free phone support for 90 days when you buy your MacBook, and buying a Care Protection Plan extends the term to three years.
- However, Apple is fooled with the features included in the Care Protection Plan, since many are guaranteed by EU law anyway and do not have to be bought separately. Apple also fails to publish a detailed list of the additional rights.
Gravis, ERGO and Co. - there are alternatives
Some well-known insurance companies and the Apple dealer Gravis also offer insurance for Apple devices. However, there are differences between the providers.
- Many of the insurance companies are also effective in the event of mishaps and accidents such as lightning or robbery, since additional insurance is also purchased. Apple Care Protection Plan does not include this.
- Be sure to read the warranty coverage carefully and consider whether insurance is worthwhile in your case.
- Basically, a support plan for displays and home computers is much cheaper than that for a portable device, since the latter is usually more demanding.
