MacOS: Find backslash
You want to type a backslash on your Mac or MacBook but you can't find it on the keyboard? How to get the special character.
Backslash on the Mac keyboard
The minimalist design by Apple also has an effect on the Mac keyboard: there are only characters that you really need printed on. The backslash (\) is not one of them. But here it is hidden:
- Shift + alt + 7 is the solution to your problem on Mac OS X.
- It looks different in different versions of Parallels Desktop: right alt key + ß under Parallels 6 and right alt key + Shift + 7 under Parallels 7. If that doesn't work, try ctrl + alt + Shift + 7.
- In VMWare Fusion: right alt key + <or create a keyboard mapping.
- In VirtualBox you also use the right alt key + ß.
