macOS Sierra: Use picture-in-picture - how it works
One of the innovations in macOS Sierra is the picture-in-picture function. In our practical tip, we explain how you use the feature and what restrictions there are.
macOS Sierra: picture-in-picture - how it works
What was previously only possible on the iPad is now available on the Mac: Watch videos conveniently in a separate player window. With videos in iTunes and Quicktime or Vimeo this works without any problems.
- Play the desired video in iTunes and Quicktime or Vimeo.
- In the video control bar you will now see a small icon for playing in the picture-in-picture function (see screenshot).
- Now the video is played in a small extra window on the screen.
macOS Sierra: PiP in Youtube
In order for a video to be played in PiP, the website operator must have the video integrated on a specific day. This is already the case with Vimeo, but not yet with YouTube. Nevertheless, you can also use the function via a detour with YouTube videos.
- Right-click the video twice in quick succession.
- A context menu opens in which you will also find the item "Open picture-in-picture".
- If you select this point, the YouTube video will also be played with the picture-in-picture function.
