macOS: Sierra crashes when installing - you can do that
If macOS Sierra crashes during installation, there can be several reasons. This practical tip shows you what you can do to get it working again.
macOS Sierra: freeze or crash during installation - you can do that
If your Mac crashes or stops responding while installing macOS Sierra, you can try the following:
- Antivirus software can interfere with the installation. Before installing, remove or disable your antivirus and try again.
- Install macOS Sierra in safe mode. To enter Safe Mode, hold down the Shift key at startup until the gray Apple logo appears.
- Sometimes it can also be due to the WiFi connection. In this case, try installing with a LAN cable.
macOS Sierra: Not enough storage space
If you get a message during the installation that the storage space is insufficient, proceed as follows:
- Start your Mac in Safe Mode. Delete unnecessary files or move them to an external hard drive to free up some space.
- Restart your Mac and try again to install macOS Sierra.
macOS Sierra: Mac does not start after installation
If you have installed macOS Sierra and the computer does not start afterwards, you can reset the NVRAM:
- Start your Mac and hold down the key combination [CMD] + [ALT] + [P] + [R].
- Keep the buttons pressed until you hear the start tone a second time. This will also reset the PRAM.
