The refreshing maypole is quickly prepared. The list of ingredients is also not long:
- First wash 500 grams of fresh strawberries and quarter the fruits. If a small mishap happens, you can remove even stubborn strawberry stains.

- Add 40 zl woodruff syrup for the classic Maibowle taste.
- Finally, add the strawberries to the Maibowle and chill the drink. It should be allowed to brew for a while so that the flavors are well distributed.
- If you lack sweetness, add some sugar. However, it does not dissolve in the bowl itself, so you have to liquefy it in a little hot water beforehand.
- You can put a few ice cubes in the bowl before serving. This refreshes in summer and you dilute the alcohol content a little.
Dealing with fresh woodruff: you should pay attention to this
Instead of woodruff syrup, you can also use fresh woodruff. It is very aromatic and free of unnecessary, artificial additives.
- Fresh woodruff is particularly aromatic if you harvest it shortly before flowering. We have summarized for you exactly how you go about ducking woodruff in a separate article. It is important, among other things, that it is not yet blooming.
- To get even more taste from the plant, Waldmeister should dry for about two days. If you don't have that much time, just put the stems in the freezer for half an hour.
- You should be cautious when it comes to the amount of woodruff used to prepare Maibowle. As a rule of thumb: three stems per liter of liquid is the maximum. You can find out more about the dangers of woodruff in the next paragraph.
Maibowle with woodruff - you should know that about the summer drink
As fresh and tasty Waldmeisterbowle is, you should only enjoy the corn drink with caution in certain cases.
- If you have liver problems, Waldmeister is not for you. Otherwise the function of the liver is impaired. Likewise, if you are taking blood-thinning medication or regular aspirin, you should only enjoy small amounts, if at all.
- One of Waldmeister's ingredients is coumarin. This coumarin reduces blood clotting. If you take blood thinners, this effect can be dangerously increased.
- In addition, coumarin, taken in larger doses, damages the liver. The headaches that can be triggered by coumarin are less dangerous, but uncomfortable. You will not get any complaints from normal Maibowle as long as you do not drink the punch a liter at a time.
Not everyone likes punch bowls equally. If one of your guests unexpectedly asks for a beer, we will show a trick in the next post that will help you cool beer in two minutes.
