Clean the mainboard - you should pay attention to this
If you want to clean your motherboard, there are a few things to consider. In this practical tip, we will show you how to clean the motherboard.
Clean the mainboard properly
If your motherboard is dirty, you can remove dirt by following the tips below. Photos and tips for removing the mainboard for better cleaning can be found in the picture gallery below.
- First of all: Mainboards are above all functional. Only clean your motherboard if dust gets the upper hand or other contaminants impair or threaten to affect the running of your computer.
- Before cleaning your mainboard, remove the power plug and carefully open your computer case.
- Remove the button cell, i.e. the mainboard battery.
- Now you can blow light dust off the mainboard using a compressed air spray.
- Dab off heavier dirt with an antistatic cloth.
- You can get to hard-to-reach places with cotton swabs. Here too, do not rub, but dab, otherwise fibers can get stuck to solder joints, corners and edges.
- Dirty slots can be carefully cleaned of dirt with a toothpick.
- To clean glued surfaces, soak a cloth or cotton swab in distilled water or alcohol. Allow the liquid to evaporate completely before reconnecting the battery and power.
