- Corn is almost 73 percent water and has a large amount of fiber.
- It also contains provitamin A, various B vitamins, vitamin C and vitamin E.
- There are also minerals such as iron, potassium, baking soda and zinc.
- The grain also brings essential amino acids for your body.
The grain is so healthy
Because of the vitamins, minerals and high fiber content, corn is a healthy grain.
- The indigestible fiber swells in your intestines and gets your digestion going.
- Prefer freshly harvested corn, which is best bought at weekly markets during the harvest period between July and September. Most of the minerals and vitamins are contained here.
- Out of season, you can use frozen corn. This contains significantly more nutrients than canned corn.
- The canned corn loses significant amounts of vitamins over time - but the minerals are retained.
- Good to know: Corn does not contain gluten and is therefore also suitable for people with celiac disease.
