Enable macros in Excel
This practical tip shows you how to activate the macros in Microsoft Excel 2007 and 2010.
Enable macros in Excel 2007
- In Excel 2007, click the Office icon in the upper left corner, and then click Excel Options.
- In the next window, click "Trust Center" on the left.
- Next, click "Trust Center Settings ...".
- Now click on "Macro Settings" on the left.
- To activate the macros, tick the entry "Activate all macros". Confirm with OK".
- Warning: you should only activate the macros when you really need them. Once you have finished working with Excel, you should deactivate yourself in the same way!
Enable macros in Excel 2010
In the newer version of Excel, the way to the macro settings is a little different:
- Click "File" and then "Options".
- In the new menu, select the bottom entry "Security Center" and in the next window "Settings for Macros".
- On the right you can now choose between four different options, the bottom one is "Activate all macros" (see screenshot).
