Mastered for iTunes - what does that mean?
In addition to songs and albums, the note "Mastered for iTunes" is increasingly being seen in the iTunes Store. We'll tell you exactly what that means here.
Mastered for iTunes - better music?
If a song is produced professionally in the recording studio, this happens in the best quality. However, the songs are sold in compressed quality on CDs or MP3s.
- This way, the smallest details are lost and the music does not necessarily reach the listener as the artists and technicians originally wanted. The reason for this is quite simple: space is scarce on mobile devices such as the iPhone. So a song is preferably reduced to 10 instead of 20 MB.
- With the "Mastered for iTunes" program, producers can produce and distribute their songs in such a way that there is hardly any loss of quality.
- True music fans can look forward to more detailed recordings, the ordinary listener will probably not notice any difference.
- Mastered for iTunes is a good interim solution to offer music the way the artist intended it. In the next few years there will probably be audio formats that achieve such a quality even when compressed.
