Mouse moves by itself - what to do?
This practical tip shows you what you can do if your computer mouse moves on its own.
Mouse moves by itself: you can do that
- Check that your mouse is properly connected to the PC. It is recommended to try a different USB port. A USB 2.0 mouse should be plugged into a USB 2.0 port if possible. Also make sure that only one mouse is connected to your PC.
- Install the latest drivers for your mouse.
- Use your mouse on a straight surface, at best on a mouse pad.
- If the mouse continues to move even though you are not touching it, disconnect it from your PC and try to clean the bottom of the mouse and the pad carefully.
- Open the Control Panel and under "Hardware and Sound" click on "Device Manager". If several devices are listed under "Mice and other pointing devices", remove all but the connected mouse.
- If these instructions do not solve your problem, contact the customer service department of the manufacturer of your mouse.
In the event of a defect, usually only a new mouse will help. In the next practical tip, we will show you the best gaming mice in comparison.
