Mouse: set DPI - how it works
If you want to set the DPI value of your mouse, look for a corresponding function in Windows in vain. We'll show you how it works.
DPI in mice - what does that mean?
- The DPI unit specifies how many pixels the mouse pointer covers on the screen when the mouse is moved by 2.54 cm (1 inch). With a higher DPI value, the speed of the mouse pointer increases.
- The mouse speed and the mouse acceleration can be activated in the Windows settings. Windows itself cannot change the DPI of a mouse, but tries to imitate this behavior. Depending on the setting, some of the accuracy of the mouse is lost.
Set the DPI value of the mouse
Note that the DPI value does not change for every mouse. However, if you have a gaming mouse, this is very likely possible.
- If software was supplied with the mouse, you will find all the necessary settings for the DPI number in it. Logitech mouse users use Logitech SetPoint, Microsoft mouse users access the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center.
- It cannot be said where the optimal DPI value is. It shouldn't be too high or too low. In the end, personal taste always determines the speed at which you can cope best.
