Mouse hangs - it can be because
If the mouse hangs, you can only operate your computer with great difficulty. We'll show you what causes the mouse to hang and how to fix it.
Wireless mouse hangs - what to do?
If you work with a wireless mouse, the errors can arise from the wireless connection. Test the following steps to move your pointer again:
- Move the mouse closer to the recipient. If the pointer moves again, only the distance between the two devices was too great.
- It is best to place the receiver on the front of the PC to prevent such dropouts.
- With a wireless mouse, you should also make sure that the batteries are charged.
- To be able to further isolate the error, test the mouse on another PC.
- If such dropouts occur here, there may be a defect in the mouse. In another guide we will show you what you should pay attention to when buying a new mouse.
Computer mouse hangs - other causes
If the radio connection is not responsible for the defect or if you are working with a wired mouse, the error can be triggered by the PC.
- If there are no problems with the mouse on another PC, the fault is on your PC.
- A USB port on your PC may be defective. So try to connect the mouse to a different port.
- The mouse sensor may also be dirty. Take a look at the sensor and carefully, but carefully, remove any dust or dirt.
- You should use a mouse pad so that the movements of the mouse arrive correctly on the PC. Various problems can occur without a pad.
Laptop with touchpad: mouse pointer hangs
If you are working on a laptop with the integrated touchpad, this can also be responsible for the malfunction. Test whether you accidentally deactivated the touchpad using a key combination. This is usually done by simultaneously pressing the [FN] key and one of the [F] keys, on which a small touchpad is shown.
If the speed of the mouse pointer seems too fast or too slow, we will show you in another article how to change the sensitivity of the mouse.
