Search multiple PDF documents - how it works
You can search multiple PDFs to find them in your digital archives and libraries. We'll show you how it works with the most used PDF viewers.
Search multiple PDFs with Adobe Reader
With the free Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat (available as a demo on CHIP Online) from CHIP Online, you can easily search several PDF files for keywords:
- Press the key combination [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [F]. Now the search mask is displayed.
- Mark here "All PDF documents in"
- Now select either in area (a) your own documents or a drive, for example your e-book reader, ...
- ... or click "Browse for folder ..." to select the folder that contains your PDF files.
- As soon as you have selected a folder, it appears in area (b) and can now be accessed more quickly
Search multiple PDFs with PDF-XChange Viewer
In the freeware PDF-XChange Viewer and Foxit Reader, searching through several PDF documents is a little easier:
- Here too, press the key combination [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [F] to display the search mask.
- Now mark either your own documents in area (a) or a drive ...
- … Or click on "" to search another path.
- Folders and drives that have already been searched are also displayed here in area (b).
In further articles we will show you how to print individual chapters or comments in Adobe Reader and what the differences between Foxit Reader and Adobe Reader are.
