Make Mexican snacks yourself - how it works
Mexican snacks score with their fruity spiciness and delicious dips. Here you can read how you can prepare tortillas, nachos & Co. yourself.
Make tortillas yourself: recipes for Mexican snacks
You can find ready-made tortillas in the supermarket, but the dough for the flatbreads can also be made very easily.
- Put 250 grams of corn flour, 100 grams of wheat flour, 250 milliliters of water, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and a pinch of salt in a bowl and mix the ingredients with the hand mixer.
- Now divide the tortilla dough into eight equal pieces. These are the individual tortillas.
- Roll out each piece very thinly into a circular flat cake.
- Now pour some oil into a pan. As soon as the pan is hot, add a flatbread and bake it from both sides.
- As soon as you see bubbles in the dough, the time has come to turn or remove them from the pan.
Process tortillas into nachos
For your Mexican snacks, you can either fill the tortillas or process them into crispy nachos:
- First make a marinade from olive oil, paprika powder, chilli flakes, salt and pepper.
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees convection.
- Cut the tortillas into triangles and brush them with the marinade.
- Put the nachos on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 10 minutes.
Delicious dip: Prepare tomato salsa
A tomato salsa goes perfectly with nachos:
- To get enough tomato salsa for nachos from eight tortillas, dice ten tomatoes.
- Now dice two red onions and a clove of garlic and add this to the tomatoes.
- Chop up half a bunch of fresh coriander. Alternatively, you can use basil or flat-leaf parsley.
- Add some olive oil and balsamic vinegar as well as salt and pepper to the salsa if you like.
Make guacamole yourself
The second dip is best served with a tasty guacamole:
- To do this, cut two ripe avocados and crush them so that you get a cream.
- Cut 2 tomatoes and 2 cloves of garlic into fine cubes and add them to the avocado cream.
- Season the guacamole with salt, pepper and lemon juice.
