Mi Band 2 reset: Instructions for resetting
If you want to reset your Xiaomi Mi Band 2, you will quickly face a problem: The Mi Band 2 cannot be reset. This becomes a problem when you want to sell your tracker. Here you can find out what solution there is.
Mi Band 2: Resetting not possible
You cannot reset the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 or reset it to the factory settings. All data is initially saved on the tracker, but later transferred to the personal Xiaomi account. Nobody has access to it, except yourself. If you want to sell the Mi Band 2, you have to decouple it from your smartphone. Before that, it cannot be used with any other smartphone.
- First of all you have to call up the Mi-Fit app, log in and then look at your profile.
- Here you can call up Mi Band 2 under "My devices". If you scroll down to the bottom, you will find the "Unbind" option.
- Then you have to disconnect the Bluetooth connection: Open the settings on your smartphone and select "Bluetooth".
- Then tap the gear icon in the list of paired devices and can then "unpair".

Reset for used Mi Band 2
Some users report that they were able to reset a used Mi Band 2 when they connected it to their smartphone:
- If the previous owner's smartphone is not nearby, the Mi-Fit app shows a connection error.
- Then the message "Restore factory settings" appears. The Mi Band 2 should be reset by tapping on it.
- You have to confirm this on the Mi Band by tapping on the display. A four-digit code is also displayed, which you must enter in the app.
- The Mi Band is then connected to the Mi-Fit app on the new smartphone.
