Tinker the micro SIM adapter yourself - how it works
If you would like to convert a micro SIM into a standard SIM, you can make the appropriate adapter yourself. Our instructions show you how to do this in detail.
Convert Micro-SIM itself to Mini-SIM
The mini SIM is the classic "large" SIM card. The micro SIM is the slightly smaller version.
- Micro SIM cards are usually delivered in a larger plastic card. This is in the form of a standard EC card. In some cases, the large SIM card has the micro SIM in a mini SIM.
- If you still have this card and there is a micro-SIM adapter there, the micro-SIM can be easily reinserted and fixed with an adhesive strip.
- If the micro SIM only has to be used in the cell phone, an adapter is not absolutely necessary. If necessary, this can also be easily attached with an adhesive strip.
- If that doesn't work either, you still have to buy an adapter. You can find them on Amazon for around 1.50 euros.
Tinker the micro SIM adapter yourself
You can also make a SIM template yourself. However, if the SIM card is inserted into the side of your cell phone like an iPhone, you must be very careful. If you don't get a good template, the SIM card can get stuck.
- Take a thin but strong piece of paper with you. If you choose a cardboard, it must not be thicker than the SIM card itself.
- Print out this SIM template and then cut out a large mini SIM. Then place the micro SIM on the corresponding area and cut a recess for this.
- Rather cut the hole slightly smaller than the micro SIM actually is. You can reduce the adapter size step by step. The micro-SIM must sit firmly in the template.
In the next practical tip we will show you what you should pay attention to when changing the SIM card.
