Microsoft Edge: 10 tips for a perfect start
With Windows 10 you automatically get the new browser Microsoft Edge. In this article, we give you 10 tips to keep in mind when starting Microsoft Edge.
Tip 1: Set the homepage in Microsoft Edge
When you open the successor to Internet Explorer for the first time, you will receive the "Start" tab with the highlighted question "Where are we going next?". The user can set the start page himself.
- On the current start page of the browser you will find a button with three dots in the top right. Click on this button and then select "Settings".
- In the "Open with" area, click on the "Specific page (s)" option. Below you have the option to choose between MSN, Bing and user-defined. Go to the "Custom" option. In the input field "Enter web address" you can enter any website such as www.chip.de. At the end click on "Add".
- You can remove all specified websites using the [X] button if you do not need them.
Tip 2: Change the design in the browser
The first time you open the browser, you get a bright theme. However, the surface design can also be changed to a dark motif.
- Open the browser and click on the button with the three dots. Then select "Settings".
- Under the lettering "Select design" you can choose the option "Dark". This gives you a dark theme, but it does not affect the surface design of the website. This remains unchanged.
Tip 3: Start browsing in private
Would you like to prevent your browser data from being saved? Then this tip is just right for you: With InPrivate tabs, temporary data can be deleted after the tabs are closed.
- Select the key combination [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [P] to start InPrivate tabs.
- You can also click on the three dots at the top right and start "New InPrivate Window".
