Microsoft Edge: Install add-ons
If you want to install add-ons in Microsoft Edge under Windows 10, this is already partially possible. With add-ons you can expand and personalize the functions of the browser. We show you how this works at Edge.
Update: Add-ons for Edge in summer 2016
- With the Redstone update, Microsoft would like to add some functions to its Windows 10 operating system. The add-ons for the Microsoft Edge browser should also finally come.
- The function is available in a first version in the current Insider Preview of Windows 10. However, only three add-ons have been released at the moment. These include the "Microsoft Translator", the "Mouse Gestures" and the "Reddit Enhancement Suite".
- The redstone update is expected to be released to all Windows users in summer 2016. You will then find the add-ons in the top right corner of the Edge menu under "Extensions".
Install add-ons in Microsoft Edge
- On July 29, 2015, Microsoft released its new Windows 10 operating system with the new Microsoft Edge browser. The browser brings many new functions, including the add-ons.
- Very few add-ons were available in Internet Explorer. Now add-ons from other browsers such as Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox should also be supported.
- However, add-ons will probably be a long time coming. The Chrome and Firefox add-ons are not easy to install, but the developers of the add-ons can also make their extensions available for Microsoft Edge with little effort.
Microsoft Edge: Add-ons also for Windows 10 Mobile
- Windows 10 is not only available for computers and tablets, but also for some smartphones. Microsoft has also announced the add-ons here.
- Due to time and lack of hardware, the mobile use of add-ons is likely to be a few months away. The add-ons for the PC version definitely have priority.
