Microsoft Edge replaces Internet Explorer as a new browser on Windows 10. If this no longer works, this may be due to, among other things, the browser being blocked by the firewall or your antivirus program. In this practical tip, we explain what you can do in such a case and possible other cases so that Microsoft Edge works as usual again.
Microsoft Edge is not working - so fix the problem
If the browser does not start as usual, the causes are often diverse. Below we give you tips for rectification:
- Make sure your browser is not blocked by your antivirus or firewall.
- Therefore, open the firewall you are using and the anti-virus program and put Microsoft Edge in the exception list. Tip: With the free tool Windows 10 Firewall Control, you can configure the Windows firewall more conveniently.
- Alternatively, you can briefly switch off the antivirus and your firewall to test whether they are to blame.
- Important: Don't forget to start both programs afterwards!
- In some cases, the browser does not start even when the Windows firewall is switched off. Therefore activate this via the "Control Panel".
- There may also be an update to fix this error. In the "System Settings" you can search for updates and install them if necessary.
Other solutions: Microsoft Edge is not working

- If an error message appears when you start Edge, you should take a closer look at it and look for it on the Internet.
