Microsoft Edge is slow: you can do that
Microsoft introduced the new Microsoft Edge browser on Windows 10. You can find out what you can do if it runs very slowly in our practical tip.
Microsoft Edge is slow - clear cache
- Open the browser and click on the symbol with the three dots at the top right.
- Select the "Settings" item, which is located at the bottom.
- Then click on the "Select item to be deleted" button. You can find this under "Clear browser cache".
- Mark here "Browsing history", "Cookies and saved website data" as well as "Cached data and files".
- By clicking on "Delete" the selected data will be deleted.
Microsoft Edge is slow - reinstall Java
- To do this, switch to "Control Panel" by right-clicking the Start button and selecting "Control Panel".
- Click here on "Programs"> "Uninstall a program".
- Find “Java” in the list, click on it and then select “Uninstall”.
- Follow the instructions to uninstall Java.
- You can then download and reinstall Java.
Microsoft Edge is slow - check system for errors
- Start the command prompt with administrator rights. To do this, right-click on "Start" and select "Command Prompt (Administrator)".
- Enter "SFC / scannow" in the field and confirm with [Enter].
- It is now searched for damaged or faulty system files.
- Restart Edge after the successful scan to see if the speed has improved.
