Microsoft Edge has a useful password manager that you can use to store and manage passwords. We will explain where you can find the function and show you an alternative way.
Manage passwords in Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge can't show you your passwords directly, but password management has other useful features. How to find them:
- First open the menu by clicking on the three dots in the upper right corner.
- Now select "Settings" in the dropdown menu.
- Now scroll all the way down until you find the "Show advanced settings" option.
- Under the privacy settings, you can not only turn the saving of passwords on or off in general, but also manage saved passwords. Click on this option.
- The websites for which you have saved passwords are now displayed here.
- Click on the X next to it to delete the respective password, but if you want to edit the user name or password, you can double-click on the saved website.
- The saved name is displayed openly to you, but the password cannot be disclosed.
Microsoft Edge: Read passwords in the control panel
In Microsoft Edge, the passwords are only displayed for administration purposes, but you cannot read them in plain text. This requires a look at the system control.
- Open the Control Panel and select the category "User Accounts".
- Under "Credentials management" you will find all passwords saved in Microsoft Edge.
- Select the desired website and click on the blue link "Show".
- After entering your password, the saved password of the website is displayed.
