Microsoft Office: Installation hangs - you can do that
If Microsoft Office hangs during the installation, you can either wait several hours or act. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
Microsoft Office installation hangs at 90 percent
- Microsoft Office often gets stuck at 90 percent during installation. This is the case if the Windows Installer is currently doing other tasks. Microsoft Office is then in the queue.
- The Windows Installer is often busy installing the Windows updates. If the installation hangs at 90 percent, it can be worthwhile to wait a few minutes.
- If nothing happens after a long time or if the installation has visibly hung up, open the Task Manager. Search for the process "Windows Update Standalone Installer" (wusa.exe) and end it with a right click.
- Then start the installation again. If that doesn't help or if the installation hangs in front of the 90 percent, read on in the next paragraph.
Microsoft Office: Anti-virus software hampers the installation
- Especially with very new versions of Office, there may be conflicts with your anti-virus software. If some files or processes are classified as unknown and harmful, the installation can be paralyzed.
- Therefore, open your installed anti-virus software and briefly deactivate it. If that doesn't work, restart Windows completely and try the installation again.
Old version of Microsoft Office hampers the installation
- If you already have another version of Microsoft Office installed on your computer, this can also lead to problems. Therefore, uninstall the old version of Office.
- To do this, use the following Microsoft problem-solving tool. The download starts automatically. By using the tool, you notice that Microsoft Office is completely uninstalled.
