Gross or net with the minimum wage - these deductions will apply to you
The minimum wage is regulated by law and therefore follows some rules. New laws are established every two years and the minimum wage is adjusted. As of January 1st, 2020, employees should even earn at least 9.35 euros.
- The premiums for health, nursing, pension and unemployment insurance are deducted from the € 9.19 per hour.
- Your employer pays a flat rate of taxes and social security contributions. You yourself do not pay any contributions other than the pension insurance. You also have the option of getting rid of the compulsory pension insurance in a mini job.
- You should also not forget about taxes . How much tax you have to pay depends on your tax bracket.
- How high your net income is with the minimum wage depends on the deductions and is therefore very individual. On average, you have between 1100 and 1300 euros per month.
- With an online salary calculator, you can calculate in detail how high your net salary will be after all deductions.
The minimum wage does not apply to everyone
In principle, the minimum wage applies to all employees as soon as they are of legal age . In certain cases, however, it does not apply.
- Internship: If your internship is shorter than 3 months, you will not receive a minimum wage.
- Industry: Depending on the industry, you receive a higher minimum wage, for example as an educator. The nationwide "regular" minimum wage will not apply to you.
- Trial period after unemployment: If you were long-term unemployed, you cannot receive a minimum wage in your new job for the first six months.
- As a self-employed person, you do not benefit from the minimum wage.
- Trainees receive remuneration from their employer. However, this does not have to be based on the minimum wage.
