Minecraft: build automatic farm - how it works

If you want to concentrate on exploring in Minecraft, hunger can be annoying. We'll show you how to build an automatic farm that can help you get rid of household chores partially or completely. The more automated the farm should be, the more resources you need to collect. In addition, more complex projects are not that easy, even with good instructions. We give you some simple tips to get you started.
Automatic chicken farm in Minecraft
An automated chicken farm is one of the simpler projects. You need a funnel, a chest, a bucket, 36 pieces of fence and at least one chicken.
- Find a field with at least 10x10 free blocks near your shelter.
- Lure the chickens into the field. Chickens run after you if you hold seeds in your hand.
- Fence the field - you should need exactly 36 fence elements.
- Dig a two block deep hole in the middle of the field and place the chest in the hole.
- Connect the funnel to the chest by crouching down and then placing the funnel on the chest (on the PC: Shift + right click).
- Then dig a passage from outside the field to the chest so that you can empty the chest underground.
- Almost finished! Fill the bucket with water and place a block of water in each corner of the enclosure. Your chicken farm is now running!
What's happening? The water carries all objects in the middle of the enclosure. Chickens do not drown, but continue to lay eggs. The funnel is connected to the chest and automatically sucks all the eggs above it into the chest below. If you keep ten to twenty chickens in the enclosure, you will quickly have a whole chest full of eggs. You can also breed new chickens by breaking the eggs. Every egg has a small chance of a chick hatching. This will then lure you back into the enclosure.
Automatic cane farm in Minecraft
Would you like sugar cane? For this fully automated sugar cane farm you will need flasks, a bucket, a lot of soil, a funnel, a chest, redstone, redstone torches and a redstone counter (see below).
- Build a block of earth stairs. The longer the stairs, the more sugar cane you can grow.
- Define the stairs on the left and right with one block of earth each.
- Dig a two-block hole at the bottom of the stairs. Place a chest and a funnel there and dig a tunnel to access the chest underground (see chicken farm)
- Place a block of water with the bucket at the top of the Trippe. A water slide is created!
- Plant sugar cane on every block of earth that borders the water.
- Place another block of soil behind each cane.
- Place a plunger on each of these blocks of earth so that the wooden surface faces the sugar cane.
- Build a redstone counter at the top or bottom of the water slide (see below).
- Connect each piston to the meter using redstone and redstone flares.
- Step on the counter's pressure plate and immediately go back down. The sugar cane factory is running!
What's happening? As soon as the sugar cane grows high enough, the pistons push the top part of the sugar cane into the water. Once again, water serves as a conveyor belt to the chest. Since the roots of the sugar cane remain intact, the plants keep growing and all you have to do is collect the sugar cane from the chest.
Redstone counters in Minecraft
We'll quickly show you how to build a simple redstone counter that you can use to control machines. You need four redstone amplifiers, four redstone and a pressure plate.
- Place four pieces of redstone in the corners of a 3x3 square on the floor.
- Use a redstone amplifier to fill in the gaps between two redstone pieces.
- It is important in which direction the amplifier points! Stand on a piece of redstone and place the redstone amplifier from there. Then stand on the piece of redstone you just connected and repeat for all four gaps.
- Increase the switching delay of the amplifiers to the maximum. To do this, right-click (PC) on an amplifier until the two torches of the amplifier are as far apart as possible.
- Place a printing plate next to a piece of redstone.
- Step on the plate and immediately get off the plate.
- Now a light red redstone signal should run in a circle through the "wires". The counter works! Connect machines with other redstone pieces.
