Minecraft: change pictures - how it works
You can decorate your Minecraft villa with your favorite pictures. To do this, you must first change the pre-made graphics. In this practical tip, we will tell you exactly how this works and how you hang up the paintings.
Change Minecraft paintings
By default, Minecraft has 26 paintings in different sizes. If you don't like the pre-made motifs, you can replace them with your own photos. To do this, you must first extract the graphics from the Minecraft directory:
- Press the key combination [Windows] + [R] and enter the command "% appdata%" in the Run dialog.
- In the AppData folder, click ".minecraft"> "versions". Then switch to the folder with the highest version number.
- Open the included JAR file with a pack program like "7-Zip".
- Here you navigate to the path "assets \ minecraft \ textures \ painting \" and extract the PNG file it contains.
Hang your own pictures in Minecraft
Once you've exported the graphic, you can open it with an image editing tool like Gimp.
- Now insert your own pictures here. Make sure you scale the photos to the correct size. It is best to only replace the pre-made graphics with photos of the same size.
- If you want to change the size of the pictures, you can use the purple squares as a guide. A square is the size of a block in Minecraft.
- Save your finished image file under the same name in PNG format.
- Then insert the image into the JAR file and overwrite the existing data. Depending on the pack program, you have to do it differently. Most of the time it is enough to drag your picture into the program window.
- Now start the game and craft a painting. Now you can hang your own photos in the virtual world.
If you don't want to do all the work yourself, use pre-made texture packs that also change the look of Minecraft. This article applies to Minecraft 1.8.7.
