Minecraft: Create your own sound pack - how it works
By creating your own sound pack for Minecraft and using it instead of the usual sounds, you can completely personalize your gaming experience. We explain how this works in this practical tip.
Create new sounds for Minecraft
To create new sounds, you can download license-free sound files from the Internet or use the recording device yourself. These sound files must then be converted into a Minecraft-compatible format. Proceed as follows:
- Open the sound files in Audacity or other conversion software
- Open "File / Export", select "Ogg Vorbis files" for the file type and export the file.
Minecraft: New sound package
The basis for your own sound package is the original Minecraft sound file.
- Download the official Minecraft sound package - you can find the download on relevant pages. Unzip the downloaded ZIP file.
- In the extracted folder you will find all sound files under »/ assets / minecraft / sounds«.
- Replace the respective sound files with your own. Please note that the file name must remain unchanged.
- Now delete all unchanged sounds in the folder that still correspond to the original version. This saves storage space and makes importing easier.
- Create a compressed ZIP file with the new sounds based on the Orignial Minecraft sound package.
Import soundpack into Minecraft
- Open the run form with "Windows + R" and enter "% appdata%"
- Open the folder ".minecraft"
- The folder "resource packs" is located here. Drag your sound pack file here.
- Now open Minecraft. Click on Options / Resource Packs and move your file to the right here. Now Minecraft sounds are used.
