Minecraft: increase FPS - how it works
With a few small tricks, you can increase FPS in Minecraft. We'll show you how it's done.
Increase FPS in Minecraft
Try each of the steps in order to increase the frame rate in Minecraft. You can check the FPS in-game by pressing the F3 key.
- Increase RAM: First, you should make more RAM available to Minecraft.
- CPU priority: Minecraft is very CPU-heavy because it was programmed in the Java programming language. Therefore, after starting the game, open the Task Manager with the key combination [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [ESC]. Then find the "javaw.exe" process and right-click on the entry. Now select "Select priority" -> "High".
- Graphics settings: Start the game Minecraft and then select "Options" -> "Video Settings" or "Graphics Settings". Set the point "Graphics" to "Fast", "Render Distance" to "2 Chunks", "Particels" to "Minimal" and deactivate "VSync" and "Smooth Lighting". Then click "Done" to save the settings.
- Background processes: You should also end all other processes. Browsers like Chrome or Firefox in particular require a lot of power and can prevent weaker computers from playing Minecraft smoothly.
