Find gold in Minecraft - the best tips
Gold ore is one of the rarest blocks in Minecraft. The following tips will tell you where you can still find gold.
- Gold ore is most common in layers 5 through 28. There is significantly less gold in layers 29 to 31 and you cannot find it above it at all. So go into large caves or dig into the depths.
- You can see your current level if you press [F3] under the y coordinate.
- There are just 2 gold ore veins in a chunk. A chunk is a 16 x 16 x 256 block section in Minecraft. Therefore, you should search the largest possible area.
- A popular type of mining is strip mining. You dig 12 different passages on the level, which are 1 x 2 blocks in size. At this level you will find both gold and diamonds.
- Gold ore veins have different sizes. However, a wire is never larger than 2 x 2 x 2 blocks, i.e. eight blocks.
- You will need at least one iron pickaxe to mine gold ore. So take at least one iron pickaxe with you on every cave tour. You will also need these if you come across diamonds.
- When you mine gold ore, you get a gold ore block. You can then use a furnace and fuel to process this into gold bars.
- Very strong armor, weapons or tools can then be made from gold bars.
- Minecraft ModLoader allows you to add mods to the game that make it easier to find ores. For example, there is the "X-Ray" mod, with which you can see the ores from the surface.
