Minecraft: Find your house again - so it'll work
If you lost sight of your home in Minecraft on an expedition, there are several solutions you can use to find it. We'll show you how to get back home safely.
Find your house in Minecraft
As soon as you have built a cozy house in Minecraft, the computer game requires you to start looking for raw materials and food. Here, however, it can quickly happen that you get lost, especially in the dense forest or in the flat deserts and prairies. However, so that you quickly get back to the starting point, follow the following procedures:
- If you have built your house near the so-called "spawn point" (entry point), you can let your Minecraft figure die and revive it at the spawn point. From there you should find your house more easily. Remember that if you die, you will lose random items.
- In Minecraft, you can use the [F3] key to call up your location coordinates and your current cardinal direction. Using this information, you can easily follow the path to the spawn point and your house.
- Finally, navigation tools such as a compass and a map are available in Minecraft. Once you've created them on a workbench, find your home if you get lost.
Minecraft: Note location coordinates and compass direction
How to orientate yourself with the location coordinates and the cardinal direction
- The X, Y and Z axes tell you where you are.
- Move so that you get the value "0" on each intercept. At this point is the spawn point from which you should be able to find your home with ease.
- You will find your house even easier in the future simply by noting the coordinates of your house and then moving to that point.
- Under the Z axis you will also find the line "f:" with any number and the associated cardinal direction. If you know which direction your house is in, you can use it as a guide.
Use navigation tools in Minecraft
How to find your home with a compass and map:
- While the compass only shows you the way to the spawn point, you can see all the places you have visited on the world map.
- To "craft" a compass, you need a redstone and four iron bars. Let these components melt into a compass on a workbench.
- The red tip of the compass will show you the direction in which the spawn point lies. If your house is directly at the spawn point, you will also see your house.
- If your home is not near the spawn point, use the workbench to make a world map. For this you need eight times the material "paper" and the compass mentioned.
- You can activate the world map with a click of the mouse and see all the places you have visited, including your house.
- Before you go on major tours of discovery in Minecraft, place torches on your house and the surrounding landscape. So you can find your house again at night and at the same time keep dangerous monsters at bay.
- If you have lost sight of your house and erected far away from the spawn point without having previously noted the coordinates or made navigation aids, there is no easy solution to finding your house. It makes sense to build a new retreat here.
If you are lost in Minecraft and can no longer get to your house, you can find shelter and protection from the monsters in NPC villages in Minecraft.
