- You can download Minecraft itself from us on this page. After the download, start the program by double-clicking on it.
- Follow the instructions of the installation program and complete the setup. If you already have a Minecraft account and therefore a valid license, you are ready to start.
- Otherwise, you must first register on this Mojang website to buy the game or try the demo version.
Build different: Minecraft on Mac
- The Mac version of Minecraft also requires Java. Here you can check whether it is already installed. Otherwise, it will be installed automatically by OS X in a later step or you can download the software from us on this page.
- Then download Minecraft for Mac.
- After starting the installation program with a double click, follow the steps of the software until the typical Mac window for installing new programs opens. Drag the Minecraft icon here to the Applications folder.

- If you still need an account for the demo version or to purchase the full version, visit this page from Mojang.
A Minecraft Java file for Linux
If you have a Linux system, for example on a Raspberry Pi, you only need to check whether the current Java version is installed. The game itself consists of only one file.
- As with Windows and Mac, you can check here whether you have the latest Java. If this is not the case, you can get the latest version from our download portal.
- The Minecraft.jar file from the Minecraft site is the only thing you need to start the game. The program does everything else for you. Start it with a double click.
- If you already have a Mojang account, nothing stands in the way of building. Otherwise you can create it here in just a few steps.
