Minecraft: Find Lapis Lazuli - the best tips
Lapis-Lazuli is one of the few blue blocks in Minecraft. How and where you can find the coveted ore is shown in our article.
Lapis-Lazuli: Find blue ore in Minecraft
In addition to lapis lazuli, Minecraft only has seven other ores. If you break down such a block, you will get blue dyes. You can use it to color wool, for example, or craft blue blocks.
- The ore occurs in layers 1 to 31. Lapis lazuli are most often found up to layer 15, so dig deep into the earth or explore large caves. If you want to find out your current altitude, press the [F3] key. You will then find your current height under the Y coordinate.
- As with diamonds, there is only one lapis-lazuli vein per chunk. A chunk denotes a 16 x 16 x 256 block section in Minecraft. As soon as you have used up a lapis-lazuli vein, you should move on quite a bit.
- An ore vein contains up to seven blocks. So if you find a lapis-lazuli block, dig in all directions so you don't miss any ore.
- Tip: To get the dyes, you need at least a stone pickaxe. If you use it to break down a lapis-lazuli block, you get up to five dyes. Improve your pickaxe beforehand at a magic table with "Glück III", jump up to 20 lapis lazuli.
Diamonds are even rarer than lapis lazuli. We will show you how to find this ore in the next practical tip.
