Minecraft has several useful commands in multiplayer - for server owners as well as for normal players. We show you the most important commands in this practical tip.
Server commands for Minecraft admins
Minecraft offers a lot of useful commands for admins to manage their server. We have put together the most important three for you:
- To remove a player from the server for a short time, use the command "/ kick player name". To permanently deny this player access to the server, use the command "/ ban player name". With "/ banlist" you get a list of all banned players that you can pardon with "/ pardon player name".
- Another interesting feature is the option to kick players who have been on the server for too long without moving. With the command "/ setidletimeout x" you can specify a time after which the player should be kicked. x is replaced by the desired minutes.
- To give other players access to these commands, you can assign them operator rights. This is done with the command "/ op player name". To revoke these rights from a player, use the command "/ deop player name". Warning: this function can also be used against you.
3 Minecraft commands for normal players on servers
Caution: Not all of these commands work on every server. It depends on which commands have been activated by the administrator and which have not:
- If you want to share something privately with someone, you can use the command "/ w player name your message".
- You can teleport with the command "/ tp". If you use "/ tp player name", you will teleport to the selected player. With the command "/ tp 100 100 100" you will be teleported to the coordinates x = 100 y = 100 and z = 100. Of course you can adjust these values.
- You can kill yourself with the "/ kill" command. This is useful, for example, if you are in the "End" and have not yet reached the portal back to the normal world. However, your entire inventory will be lost.
Tip: With the "/ help" command you get a list of all commands available on the server and instructions on how to use them.
