Install Minecraft Texture Packs
You can modify the game Minecraft in many ways. This includes "Texture Packs", which you can install to change the look of the game world. Since version 1.6 the "Texture Packs" have been replaced by the "Resource Packs". It also allows you to change all the sounds in the game. We show you how to install these packs here.
Install Mincraft texture packs
- Start Minecraft and select "Options" from the main menu.
- In the options menu select the sub-item "Resource Packs" (Texture Packs).
- Click on "Open resource pack folder" at the bottom left - Minecraft will then open the corresponding folder.
- Here you can copy the resource packs that you have downloaded - you have already added the resource pack to your game.
Texture Pack Tips
- You can find the largest selection of texture packs in the Minecraft forum.
- Since the update to version 1.6, you no longer need mods like "Optifine" or "MCPatcher" for resource packs that are larger than 16x16 pixels per texture. Nevertheless, these mods look a lot nicer - for example grass and lava.
- In the Resource Pack menu you can choose which Resource Pack should be preferred. To do this, it must be at the top on the right. If a texture is missing in the top resource pack, the game uses the resource pack below. However, this only works from version 1.6.
