Manufacturers install different plugs and connections in end devices. We will explain the difference between mini and micro USB below.
This is how Mini differs from Micro USB
The mini USB connector has been around since 2000, but it is now becoming less common on devices. We will show you the reason for this and explain the specific properties of the connector.
- With the mini USB connector, end devices such as cameras or MP3 players can be connected to a PC or laptop.
- The mini version is over half the size of a normal USB-A connector.
- Nevertheless, this one has a pin more than its big brother. To date, however, no function has been assigned to this.
- The cable is mostly used only for data transmission or for charging the device in one direction.
- A mini-USB connector has the norm to withstand at least 5000 mating cycles.
Three facts about micro USB
The micro USB connector is mostly used for data transmission for cell phones or for charging, such as in the Samsung Galaxy S7.
- Just like Mini-USB, Micro-USB has five pins. But here the ID pin has a function. It indicates whether it is a Micro-A or Micro-B connector.
- Micro-USB can work in both directions and perform many functions simultaneously. For example, you can charge your cell phone and transfer music at the same time.
- In contrast to the mini, the micro USB connection has to withstand insertion and removal at least 10, 000 times.
