Delete folder with CMD - Here's how
If you work with the CMD console under Windows, you can delete folders directly from there. This saves you a few intermediate steps and you don't have to use Explorer. We'll show you how it's done.
Delete folders using the CMD console
- Open the desired folder and copy the complete path in the Explorer above.
- Now open the CMD console and enter the command "rd" followed by the path.
- For example, the command might look like this: rd C: \ Users \ Tim \ Desktop \ New Folder
- Note: With the additions / s and / q entire directories are deleted and requests are blocked. Example: rd / s / q C: \ Users \ Tim \ Desktop \ Neu
Alternative: Search and delete the respective folder in the CMD
Instead of using the Explorer to find the folder path, you can also find the folder to be deleted in the CMD console.
- Use the appropriate commands to navigate to the folder in which the directory to be deleted is located. You usually use the "cd" command for this.
- With "dir" you can now see which files and folders are contained in the called directory.
- Finally, delete the respective folder using "rd folder name".
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to write messages using the CMD console.
