Google Maps - create your own maps
With Google Maps, you not only create as many of your own maps as you want, very quickly and free of charge. All you need is a Google account. If you don't have one, find out how to create a Google account here.
- Open Google Maps in your computer's browser and you will see three lines in the top left that open the menu. First select "My Places" here.
- In the following menu, click on the "Cards" tab. At the very bottom you will see the "Create map" link that opens a map in a new tab. Google calls this "unknown map".
- If you click on the name, you can assign your own name and confirm it with "Save".
- Enter the location for which you want to create a map in the "Search field". Google then searches for this location and opens a map of the area.
- On your own Google Map map created in this way, you can now use the various symbols to mark or draw lines and routes.
- By adding several levels, you can separate restaurants, for example, from the bus routes and general public transport when planning a trip. This way you keep an overview and navigate between the individual levels as necessary.
- With a click on the point "Share" next to the person symbol you share your card with friends. To do this, simply enter the email addresses of the relevant people in the window that opens.
- There are also several options for the appearance of your card. If you click on the "Base map" item at the bottom of the box with the map description, a selection of different views opens, including, for example, the satellite view.
