Pay with Google Wallet in the Play Store - Here's how
If you want to buy apps for your Android device in the Google Play Store, you can hardly avoid the payment service Google Wallet. We show you how everything works with app shopping.
No more credit card restrictions in the Play Store
For a long time it was only possible in the Google Play Store with the help of Google Wallet to pay by credit card.
- In the meantime there are also gift cards at "Rewe" or "Media Markt" - similar to those for the Apple and Amazon shops.
- In addition, you can now pay for apps using PayPal and your mobile phone bill. Smartphones like the "Nexus 5" and accessories can still only be purchased by credit card.
Pay by credit card at Google Wallet
Before you can get started, you need to register your credit card with Google Wallet:
- Credit card data can be entered both on the smartphone and via the browser. The latter is the safest option for your sensitive information.
- Visit the Google website and log in as usual with your Google account. In the selection bar click on "More" and then on "Wallet". You will already see a dialog box in which you enter the credit card type, your number and the security code. Save the dialog and the payment information is linked to your Google account.
- Now you can easily search for the desired app in the Play Store and click on "Buy" - the payment method will be displayed automatically. But be careful with your user account: Entering a password is often not necessary here, so two short clicks will already put a strain on your credit card!
The wait is over: the Google Play vouchers
If you have a voucher card at hand, all you have to do is rub the code on the back. You can then add the credit to your account either mobile or on the PC using the browser:
- Open the Playstore in your browser and log in with your account. On the start page, select "Redeem code" in the left bar. Even if you selected a purchase app and then click "Buy", this button will appear. Enter the scratched code here and the credit will be credited to your account.
- You can also enter the code easily on your smartphone or tablet: To do this, open the Play Store app and click on the three menu lines in the top left. In the bar you will find the menu item "Redeem" in the lower half. Enter the code here again.
Pay for a Play Store app via PayPal
In addition to the credit card or a voucher, you can now also pay with PayPal:
- Call up the Play Store again - no matter whether via smartphone or browser - and the best thing to do is to choose the app you want to buy. Click "Buy" and accept the permissions.
- The selection of the payment method opens. Click on the small arrow in the top left and select "PayPal" from the list that appears. Now log in with your access data and complete the purchase.
- You can easily repeat these steps for all apps.
Pay on Google Play using your mobile phone bill
In Germany, "T-Mobile", "EPlus" and "O2" support the purchase of apps, music and more via the mobile phone bill. But not every contract is suitable for this. It says try it out:
- Make sure that you are connected to the mobile network and not to a WLAN - this method only works with the smartphone or tablet itself.
- Select the desired app in the Play Store and navigate again to the payment methods. Now the Play Store checks whether you can pay using your mobile phone bill.
- If this is the case, the corresponding option appears in the selection. If it is not possible, you will not see the button at all. Otherwise, you only have to agree to the payment method once and can thus pay for the app directly.
If you don't want to choose the payment method until you buy an app, you should add the individual data directly to Google Wallet.
