Insert values separated by commas in Excel - how it works
If you receive a file with comma-separated values, you can insert it directly into Excel. We'll show you step by step how this works.
Excel: insert values separated by commas
- Values separated by commas are usually saved in a CSV file. CSV stands for "comma separated values". However, the values are separated by a semicolon.
- If you have the CSV file, you can usually simply open it with a double click. If this doesn't work, start Excel and select the "Open" option under the "File" tab at the top.
- If the values in the file were actually separated by commas or other characters, Excel cannot read the file correctly. In this case, switch to the "Data" tab and select the "From text" option under "Get external data".
