With Windows Phone, you can create documents quickly and easily thanks to pre-installed Office apps. Most people use their laptop or computer to print. We'll show you how to print directly from Windows Phone.
Windows Phone 10: print from smartphone
Since Windows Phone 10, the printing function has been integrated directly into the operating system.
- With the update to Windows Phone 10, Microsoft has integrated a printing function into the operating system that enables printing via WLAN.
- Printing via USB cable or printer sharing is reserved for the computer. For a list of supported printers, see the Microsoft website.
- To print a document, open it and tap "Print" in the menu. Alternatively, select the printer symbol directly.
- In the next step you can select the printer. This should appear in the list if it is switched on and works in the same WLAN as your Windows Phone.
Windows Phone 8 printing
With Windows Phone 8, the print feature is not yet integrated in the operating system. However, you can update to Windows Phone 10 or use a manufacturer app to print.
- If you use Windows Phone 8 or Windows Phone 8.1, you can update to Windows 10 Mobile free of charge.
- Alternatively, you can use manufacturer apps for printing. The major manufacturers HP, Samsung and Brother offer free printer apps.
