Install Miui ROM: Instructions for the Custom ROM
Xiaomi makes its MIUI user software available for other Android devices in the form of the MIUI-Rom. On the LG G3, these instructions show you how to install the ROM on your Android smartphone.
1. Install Miui ROM - rooting
The most important requirement for installing the ROM is a rooted Android smartphone. The rooting process varies from device to device, so we have created a general guide for rooting for you. In addition, this overview of rooting is recommended, especially if you are trying this field for the first time.
- For the LG G3 you have to download the "Root G3 D855 MM.zip" file and the SuperUser.zip from the Internet.
- Before starting the root process, make sure that your device is still at least 60% charged.
- Since you lose the warranty on your device when rooting, it makes sense to create a Nandroid backup before performing the rooting process.
- Now unzip the "Root G3 D855 MM" file and copy the files "Hacer Permisivo.zip", "KingRoot" and "AutoRec APK" to your LG G3.
- Now open a file manager on your smartphone and install the "Kingroot.apk". You can find out how to install an apk. File on Android using the link.
- Run the installed app and root your smartphone. Warning: This will usually void your guarantee.
- Optionally, you can use the "RootChecker" app to check whether the rooting process was successful.
2. Install Miui ROM - install custom recovery
After a successful root process, you now have the option of installing a so-called custom recovery. This is basically a system over the Android system, with which you can make profound changes to your smartphone. Many smartphones already come with such recovery software, but the range of functions is usually not sufficient to carry out a complete Custom Rom installation. It is therefore advisable to install your own recovery system.
- To do this, install "Autorec MM.apk" on your device. Then open the app and install the custom recovery TWRP. After installation, your smartphone should automatically restart in the recovery menu.
- Select the "Install" button, navigate to "Hacer Permisivo.zip" and install the file.
- Then navigate back to the main menu of the custom recovery and restart your device.
- Copy the "SuperSU v.2.65.zip" file to the internal memory of your LG G3.
- Boot your device manually into the recovery menu + by switching off the device, pressing the "Volume Down" button and the power button at the same time. As soon as the LG logo appears on the display, release both buttons for a short time and then press again. On the following screen choose "Yes, erase all user data" - don't worry, no user data will be deleted at this point.
- Once in the recovery system, click the "Install" button again, select the SuperSU file and flash it onto your device.
- Restart your smartphone. The setup of root rights and the installation of custom recovery is now complete.
3. Install Miui Custom-Rom
Now the MIUI-Rom is easy to install.
- Download the Rome zip file. Also download the relevant Google apps. Make sure to select the Android version on which your MIUI-Rom is based.
- After downloading, copy both files to your smartphone.
- Then start the recovery system as described above.
- Select the "Wipe" option and make crosses in front of "Dalvik Cache", "System", "Data" and "Cache" in the following window. With this process, your old system and all associated apps, settings and data will be deleted from your cell phone and this will be "cleaned" for the installation of the new Rome.
- Now go back to the main menu of the recovery system and select the "Install" option. Search for the MIUI zip file in the folder directory and install it. After completing the installation process, do the same with the downloaded GApps file (Google Apps).
- Once this installation is complete, you can restart your device. The MIUI-Rom is now installed. Experience has shown that the first start can take a little longer. You can then set up the device and use it with the Rom installed.
