Bypass mobile websites - so it'll work
Mobile websites undoubtedly make surfing on the smartphone more convenient. But sometimes it makes sense to bypass them so that you can use all the functions of a website. In this practical tip we show how it's done.
Bypass mobile websites - how it works
Some websites have a link that takes you to the desktop edition of the page. This is usually at the bottom of the page and is often titled "Switch to desktop version". If there is no such link on a website, you have to use other methods.
- With the help of the so-called user agent, websites determine which device and browser you are using to access the page. This means that websites optimized for mobile devices can be made available.
- However, if you use a browser with which you can change the user agent, it is also possible to view desktop pages on the smartphone.
