Photographing the moon: the best settings and focal lengths for the super
The most important thing for your picture are the special settings of the camera:
- In the best case, use a tripod so that your pictures shake as little as possible.
- Your focal length should be very large so you can zoom in close to the moon. Telephoto lenses with at least 150-200 mm are ideal.
- In contrast to normal night shots, the moon is very bright. That is why you can capture the moon structure perfectly with a shutter speed of around 1/30 to 1/50.
- Also set your aperture to 8F-11F. These are settings similar to landscape photography. So the entire moon is sharp.
- Definitely take multiple pictures and play around with the settings. Depending on the clouds, you can change the shutter speed slightly, for example.
You can then crop your image optimally in Paint.Net, for example, or sharpen it with Photoshop.
