Overclock your monitor: How to improve your gaming screen
This practical tip shows you how to easily overclock your monitor.
Overclock the monitor in the AMD Radeon Settings
The more FPS the better! - Many think so, although high FPS numbers with a low frame rate make little sense, since the monitor can no longer keep up. Since monitors with a high frame rate are relatively expensive, it is a good idea to overclock the monitor. First you will learn how to overclock the monitor using the AMD Radeon Settings.
- First open the Radeon Settings and click on the "Display" tab.
- Scroll down to the "Custom Resolutions" section and click "Create" on the right.
- At the point "Refresh rate (Hz)" you can now set the desired update rate. But feel your way forward slowly. As a rule, around 10 percent of the current frame rate is also feasible.
- When you are finished, click "Save" and restart the computer.
- In the advanced monitor settings of Windows you can now also change the screen refresh rate.
Overclock the monitor on Nvidia graphics cards
You can also easily overclock the monitor using the Nvidia system settings.
- To do this, open the Nvidia system settings and select "Change resolution" under "Display" on the left.
- Click on "2. Select the resolution" from "Adjust".
- Check "Enable resolutions that are not available on the display" and click on "Create user-specific resolution".
- In the section "Update rate (Hz)" always increase by 1 Hertz and click on "Test". If the image is displayed normally, click "No" under "Do you want to save this resolution" and continue increasing until the monitor turns black at some point. The last frequency at which you could still see everything well is the highest that you can use to the maximum.
- Finally save the settings.
