Monopoly rules: Almost all players get it wrong
Even experienced monopoly players sometimes play according to wrong game rules. Few actually know the exact rules. Curious: Some of these errors are so widespread that the instructions on the last page even explicitly refer to them.
Monopoly rules: Everyone can buy a street
Few fans of the popular game Monopoly follow the right rule when buying a street.
- If you think that you can only buy a street if your character is on it, you are wrong.
- The instructions say that only "one" of the player with his figure has to stand on it. If this player does not want to buy the object, the bank will auction the street. Every player can bid.
- Incidentally, this regulation also applies to train stations.
Mistake 2: Free parking doesn't bring money to Monopoly
These instructions are often misinterpreted.
- The player who arrives on the "free parking" field collects the players' fines from the center of the field - a common variant.
- This is also wrong: The instructions say that nothing happens when a figure lands on this field.
- However, anyone who comes to the field of "income or additional tax" gets money to the bank.
Monopoly error 3: No zero round at the beginning
The board game starts in the first round. However, this is often not practiced.
- No streets or train stations may be bought during the first game round - this assumption is also incorrect.
- This zero round is not mentioned in the Monopoly instructions.
- The first game round is no different from the following rounds.
