Motorola smartphones: the differences between Moto E, G and X
We explain the differences between the Motorola smartphones Moto E, G and X in this practical tip.
The entry-level phone: Motorola Moto E
- The Moto E costs around 100 euros and comes with a 4.3-inch display with a resolution of 540x960 pixels, a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and 1 GB of RAM.
- The back shells of the Moto E are interchangeable. However, at this price, you have to accept a loss of quality and also to forego the front camera and LED flash.
- Thanks to the latest Android version (4.4.4 KitKat) and quick updates, the Moto E runs surprisingly smoothly for its price range and thus offers a full smartphone experience. You can find more information in our detailed test report.
The solid middle class: Motorola Moto G
- The Moto G, available from around 160 euros, has a 4.5-inch display with 1280x720 pixels. There is also a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor with 1 GB of RAM. The latest version even includes LTE and a microSD card slot. Two cameras with flash are also on board.
- As with the Moto E, the back shells of the device are interchangeable. In addition to various colors, covers with display covers or rubberized outdoor cases can also be attached.
- With the more potent hardware and the very latest Android, the Moto G offers enough power for everyone. Thanks to the frugal system, the battery life of the Moto G is above average.
Flagship with active voice control: Motorola Moto X
- The around 280 euro expensive Moto X offers a 4.7 inch AMOLED screen with 1280x720 pixels in an extremely compact housing. The dual-core processor with 1.7 GHz and 2 GB RAM is supplemented by smaller cores that enable special functions.
- Motorola has come up with something special for its flagship: the Moto X is the first smartphone to have active voice control that works even when the display is switched off. On top of that there is a function called "Active Display" which enables battery-saving display of notifications.
- Via the special website Moto Maker you can put together countless different color variants, including wooden back shells.
- Despite the complex voice control, the system works completely smoothly and, thanks to the special processor design, also saves batteries. Thanks to the proximity to Google's stock Android, the latest Android versions are also provided. You can read the detailed test at CHIP Online.
